Scottish Land Court & Lands Tribunal For Scotland have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join them as an Administrative Officer on a full time, permanent basis at George House in Edinburgh.

The key responsibilities
To undertake a number of general administrative duties including:

  • Processing and distributing incoming mail to colleagues, creating a fee note for all incoming payments and entering the payments into the postal receipt register.
  • Creating, researching and updating records on our in-house computer systems and data input.
  • Producing court and tribunal documents, generating all necessary letters and preparing orders for intimation.
  • Acknowledging receipt and processing new applications by creating a paper and computer file, paying close attention to detail.
  • General photocopying and filing.
  • Dealing with numerical calculations.
  • Accounting for monies in accordance with financial guidelines
  • Undertake light portering duties as required.
  • Setting up travel arrangements for members and staff going on circuit.
  • Communicating both orally and in writing with stakeholders and colleagues, answering telephone queries for both Court and Tribunal, as well as occasionally carrying out reception duties for court and tribunal hearings.
  • Monitoring both Court and Tribunal mailboxes regularly

Additionally you:

  • Will have regular contact with court users, including members of the Judiciary and the legal profession. As such you be required to competently answer queries giving consistent and reliable advice.
  • Work within a team with regular management support and will be responsible for your own time.
  • May be required to provide advice to colleagues and carry out limited supervision of others.
  • Assist with preparing statistical information and other returns to ensure standards of work meet the agreed level.
