On 1st October , 2006 new legislation came into force making it unlawful to discriminate against any employee or worker on the basis of their age. This legislation encompasses all aspects of employment culture from recruitment through to dismissal and protects all age groups - young and old.
In 2006 there were more 55-64 year olds than 16-24 year olds for the first time.
