Job reference number: AP044

Contract: Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week

Location: London-based with hybrid working

Salary: £23,000 - £28,000 per annum

The Charities Aid Foundation exists to accelerate society towards a fair and sustainable future for all. We do this by providing a wide range of services, from day-to-day banking and lending services that other charities use, right through to high-level advisory services for corporate and private clients who want to plan their giving to create maximum impact, in the areas that matter to them.

As an organisation with such a diverse range of audiences, research and insight are absolutely central to understanding these so we can do better now and plan more effectively for the future.

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing in-house team that works across external publications, customer and wider audience insights, sector trends and employee understanding. You will be an integral part of the team, reporting into a Senior Research Manager.

If you’re someone who already has some experience with quantitative and qualitative research and is keen to develop their skills in these areas, then read on!

What you’ll do

The Research Team is connected across all areas of CAF’s work. The implication of that is that this role offers an extremely diverse challenge for an in-house position. This will be as much about helping to deliver some externally facing thought-leadership as it will be about being part of some detailed UX testing on new digital tools and services we are developing.

As a Researcher, you will:

  • Help with delivering high-quality and well-conceived research, either ourselves and/or with the help of suppliers.
  • Work on both qualitative and quantitative projects (with a slight weighting towards the quantitative side).
  • Script surveys into our online tool.
  • Create data tables and spot key findings.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews / online communities.
  • Help deliver engaging reports / slide-decks.
  • Keep our internal knowledge management system up to date.

Who you’ll be

You will relish and excel in this role if the following three things describe you:

  • You want to make things better (whatever they are), and are pragmatic in how you might do that
  • You have great attention to detail
  • You have the type of personality that will suit both qualitative and quantitative research

We are looking for:

  • Some experience, most likely gained in a research agency setting and / or a research-centric degree
  • Capable of becoming a strong mixed methods researcher (but especially numerate and comfortable with quantitative data)
  • Someone who is full of ideas
  • Someone who wants to get stuck into lots of different types of projects

What’s in it for you

At CAF you will receive:

  • Permanent hybrid working (2 to 3 days a week in the London office)
  • Six weeks holiday plus bank holidays
  • A wide range of development opportunities to support personal and professional growth
  • Pension scheme with better-than-market employer contribution options
  • Social impact benefit schemes

We want to attract, retain and develop the best of talent at all levels, and provide a leading and great place to work, where every voice matters.

How to apply & the process

The closing date for applications is 10 May 2024, but we will reply to promising candidates as soon as we’ve seen your application. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.

The process will be as follows:

  • Short online attention to detail test (<10 minutes)
  • 1st stage (either a 30-minute video call or a short exercise to show your thinking, depending on the number of applicants)
  • 2nd stage (in-person interview for 1hr at our London office)

Please complete the form below, attach your CV and Cover letter, then click ‘Submit Application’ if applying via our website or send your CV to recruitment@cafonline.org quoting reference number AP044

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role. Please indicate on the application form if you would like to be considered as part of the Disability Confident Scheme.
