Lecturer in Animal Welfare & Management - specialising in Veterinary medicine.

Due to our continued growth again in students wishing to study for qualifications in animal welfare and related subjects we now seek innovative, experienced and self-motivated individuals, ideally with teaching experience, to make a significant contribution to a team of staff delivering a range of courses from entry to post-graduate degree level. A pre-requisite of this post is a background specialising in Veterinary medicine (large and small animal) and animal physiotherapy. The College has made continuous and substantial investments in resources and this is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding subject area during the next phase of its development.

Main duties and responsibilities:
*To teach students attending full-time, part-time, short courses and apprenticeships as directed by the Head of Faculty
*To act as a course tutor to full-time, part-time groups and apprentices and undertake the associated organisation, administration, and monitoring of attendance including the collection of data for course evaluation.
*To tutor other student and trainee groups including the maintenance of records of achievement and undertaking placement visits.
*To counsel students and maintain discipline as required.
*To participate in the recruitment of students including attendance at Shows and Careers Conventions.
*To participate in curriculum development to meet the needs of changing industrial demand and College development.
*To participate in demonstrations and practical activities with students and trainees on all courses.
*To participate in internal verification, auditing and other quality monitoring processes to ensure that all learners, customers and clients receive exemplary service and attention at all times.
*To assist in the maintenance and sustainable development of resources and commercial activities.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Applicants will preferably hold graduate or equivalent level qualifications in Animal Welfare & Management - specialising in Veterinary medicine or related disciplines, together with relevant teaching and/or industrial experience in the Animal Welfare & Management or 'Not for Profit' sectors. A relevant assessor qualification will be an advantage as will a formal teaching qualification.
Sound administrative and IT skills are essential as is the ability to communicate effectively, manage workloads and changing priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
