College Travel Supervisor/Instructor
Fixed term until 21 December 2012

Pro rata of £22,654 - £24,758 (i.e. £9,061 - £9,903) per annum
A Supervisor/Instructor is required to run our ABTA bonded Travel Shop, based within the College. The role will also involve the delivery and assessment of Customer Services qualifications. You will have an Assessor qualification (or equivalent), a level 2 Customer Services qualification and experience of working within the travel industry. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Description of duties

*To ensure that the co-ordination of the College Travel Agency is effective as a cost centre and a realistic working environment (RWE) for students.
*Train, teach and assess students in the RWE on travel and related courses to agreed standards.
*To ensure the smooth day to day running of the College Travel Agency.
*Devise and implement appropriate marketing strategies for the College Travel Agency, including mailshots.
*Identify and develop new courses that can be delivered within the College Travel Agency in conjunction with other members of the team.
*To manage the finances and financial returns of the College Travel Agency to the agreed College requirements.
*To link with other members of the Tourism team to ensure quality of student support and training is maintained.
*To develop the product range to offer complementary products that are financially viable.
*To participate in Careers Events, Open Days etc.
*To update and regularly review the Services' intranet facility

Essential Criteria - Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

*ABTAC or equivalant
*Level 2 Customer Services qualification
*Assessor award
*A teaching qualification is desirable or must be obtained within the first 2 years of service
*Use of Viewdata and Airline Consolidator Systems
*Manage and run a travel agency, handling different accounts from flight only to business travel to package holidays
*Microsoft applications, including word and excel
*ATOL licence renewal
*Personal and Public Liability
*Managing day to day and monthly accounting procedures
*Literacy and numeracy skills
*IT and keyboard skills, including the use of email
*Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
*Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels
*Ability to work alone and as part of a team with interpersonal skills
*Managing day to day and monthly accounting procedures
*Promotional and marketing materials
*The ability to be innovative and creative
*Flexibility in approach
*Evening and weekend work may be required.
*Satisfactorily meeting the College's employment checks, and Independent Safeguarding Authority and/or Criminal Record Bureau Check, health assessment, references, qualifications and legal right to work in the UK

Desirable Criteria - Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

*Air fares and ticketing 1 and 2 or equivalent
*Verifier award (although this must be obtained)
*Experience of working within an educational environment
*Working with providers of student travel
*Setting up new supplier contracts
*Health and safety legislation
*Equality Act 2010
*An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
*Promotional and marketing materials
