Lecturer in 14-16 Freshstart Provision

£20,122 - £35,325 per annum

Chichester College have an opportunity for a Lecturer to join the 14-16 Freshstart teaching team.

Freshstart aims to deliver dynamic and exciting lessons to pre-16 (year 10 and 11) students to re-engage them back into education. The students have a range of individual support needs including emotional and behavioural challenges and ADHD. Some students are disengaged and disinterested in education and find a college environment more appropriate for their educational needs.

The area delivers a range of core subjects including English, Maths, PSE and ICT. This particular role will focus on Maths and ICT.

The successful candidate will be creative, experienced and passionate about working with challenging young people and have the ability to engage and encourage students to participate.

Chichester College is a great place to learn, they currently have 15,000 full and part-time students enrolled. Based in a very attractive part of West Sussex, the College is located over 2 campuses.

Description of duties

*To undertake teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.
*To undertake and support the delivery of Functional Skills.
*To ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
*To undertake administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.
*To develop curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration Functional Skills development and equality and diversity.
*To participate in marketing activities and promote the College in positive way for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
*To participate in parents evenings and other relevant meetings to manage achievement and attendance of students.

Essential Criteria - Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

*Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification
*Level 2 literacy and numeracy
*A Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate in Education
*Relevant industrial/commercial/subject experience
*Working with challenging young people
*Teaching and assessing learners
*Working knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
*Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Powerpoint
*Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet targets and deadlines
*Ability to work alone and as part of a team
*IT and keyboard skills, including use of email
*Ability to manage challenging behaviour
*Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels, verbally and in writing
*Ability to solve problems and make decisions
*Flexible in approach
*Innovative and creative in meeting the needs of learners
*Committed to student support
*To undertake continuing professional development as defined by the LLUK
*To become a member of the Institute for Learning and obtain ATLS or QTLS as required
*Satisfactorily meeting the College's employment checks - an Independent Safeguarding Authority and/or Criminal Record Bureau check, health assessment, references, qualifications and legal entitlement to work in the UK

Desirable Criteria - Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:

*Assessor or Verifier units
*Curriculum delivery and associated administration
*Experience of managing diverse groups of students
*Experience of working within Further Education
*Knowledge of application of digital technology to learning
*Understanding of virtual learning environments and online learning
*Knowledge of health and safety legislation
*Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010
*An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
